The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) is an international professional organization for writers and illustrators of children’s books. There are currently more than 12,000 members worldwide, in over 70 regions, making it the largest children’s writing organization in the world.

The SCBWI British Isles (SCBWI-BI) is a growing region, which meets quarterly, usually in London, for a speaker workshop or talk. We also sponsor local critique groups and publish a quarterly newsletter, Words and Pictures, which includes up-to-date events and marketing information (which publisher is looking for what in the British Isles and in the US), and articles on the craft of children’s writing. The SCBWI is open both to published and unpublished writers and illustrators.
