Big Red Dragon

Author: Jane NewberryIllustrator: Carolina Rabei

In a collection of sixteen original rhymes, this anthology tracks many of a year’s events, such as Easter, Christmas, Halloween, and Chinese New Year. The illustrations give a small child every reason to want to join in as they listen to each verse and copy the action, suggested on every page in a box. Flap wings and fly like a dragon, stamp feet like a dinosaur, or dig like a digger, ‘with a back-hoe arm and a hydraulic hiss’. The language is accessible because of its context, and many of the repetitions form simple chants to recall on turning a fresh page. This makes the book useful for babies, toddlers, pre-school children and through into Key Stage One. Join in on the unicorn page by clapping your hands and making a wish! A great book for home and nursery setting, with carefully matched illustrations in bright, glowing colours.
