Bobbo Goes to School

Here comes Lily again, from Shirley Hughes’ Don’t Want to Go! Today Lily is in a bad mood. She does something dreadful. Leaving home with Mum, she flings her cuddly toy Bobbo high in the air and it lands on top of the school bus, which speeds away and disappears. Dashing back home, Mum rings the school, explaining what has happened. As always, Hughes draws so much more on the page than is taking place in the text. We watch Bobbo thoroughly enjoying his ride flat on top of the bus… and being shot into a bush as the bus brakes at school. How Bobbo is eventually found and how Lily and Mum go to school to retrieve him is beautifully told, with the luxurious illustrations enriching each spread. Shirley Hughes fans will love this new Lily story.
