Cushie Butterfield (She's a Little Cow)

Author: Colin McNaughton

Monday morning dawns, and Cushie announces she is not well. As the week progresses, Cushie’s complaints include feeling under the weather, having the collywobbles, and being as sick as a parrot. By Friday, Cushie tells the nurse she has taken a turn for the worse. What delight to meet ‘the lady with the alligator purse’ on Saturday morning, when, strangely, Cushie is fine! As ever in McNaughton’s books, the element of fun is huge. His pictures of the cow family in their various stages of concern draw the eye from page to page. The text, rhyming at times, has a driving pulse and is in a large typeface. It begs to be read aloud. (Many times!)
