There is a long tradition in British humour of the bumbling twit, and Fintan Fedora is part of that tradition. The youngest in the Fedora family, famous for their Fedora Fancies, he is convinced that he is destined to become the greatest living explorer. Fortunately he has faithful butler Gribley, who is able to deal with most things.
It is a funny book and children will enjoy the chaos that Fintan leaves in his innocent wake. I felt a little uncomfortable about some of the racial stereotyping of the Chinese and Russian villains, but others may not. There are others in the series and I am sure that they are equally funny and will be enjoyed.
