Horrid Henry’s many fans will delight in the latest story where Henry remains true to form. This time, it’s the Christmas Play, and he just HAS to be a star. Alas, Henry has reckoned without the fact that the teachers know him All Too Well, and he is cast as the innkeeper with precisely one word to learn. It does not help that Perfect Peter is cast as Joseph. The humiliation of it all! How will our hero cope? Only too well, as readers will guess, and so when the time comes, Henry’s ability to create mayhem is put to very good use. It’s not so much a case that a star is born as Henry realises on the last page of the story – more the fact that this particular star continues to shine with its wicked gleam. To be enjoyed, even by adults who have sat through many such plays…
