Millie Shares

Author: Claire Alexander

If you don’t share, your friends won’t want to play with you – this is the simple, message of a lovely picture book full of little animals learning life’s lessons.  Millie (a small cat) has a toy monkey that she won’t share with anyone, not even best friend Lily (a small mouse).  Not only that, but she refuses to share the toys at nursery too.  This patently will not do, and soon Millie is playing alone and watching the other little animals enjoying themselves together.  Lily may be small, but she is wily, and when she quietly asks, ‘Share Monkey?’, Millie begins to understand the error of her ways, and all is well.  The illustrations add greatly to what is a familiar story, and the simple drawings with lots of white background manage nicely to emphasise the relationships amongst the little animals.
