‘So Cosy’ thinks Dog as he nestles down in his comfortable basket hoping for a nap. Not for long though; soon he is joined by Goose, Cat, a handful of rabbits, Mummy Bear and her little one, Goat and Snake all wanting to share a snuggle. If that wasn’t enough, Elephant stomps along and decides to bed down with them. Then comes the patter of tiny feet, feet belonging to Mouse; and where do mouse’s tiny, tickly feet start to climb? Right onto the tip of Elephant’s truck … ‘AAAAAAAAAAAAAA …’ Such an enormous sneeze causes an alarming animal explosion. All the intruders beat a hasty retreat, leaving Dog in peaceful solitude, so he thinks. Then patter, patter, patter, bold Mouse returns to cosy up too.

Korda’s wide-eyed characters are irresistibly appealing and her satisfiying tale, cleverly controlled and pitch perfect for young listeners. Indeed it elicited a round of applause from my large group of lively nursery-aged children.
