A magical story about learning to let go. Gracie is enchanted by a sparkly star in the night sky that seems to shining just for her. In the day time she misses its glow and decides to take it and keep it with her at all times. But removed from its sky the star can no longer shine and try as she might she cannot get it to sparkle. She realises that the star must be returned to the sky where she can enjoy it from afar.
Karin Littlewood’s traditional paint style is reminiscent of Shirley Hughes but her dreamlike story is poetic and ethereal. The text is a good length for young school children and there are lots of lovely shimmering, twinkling, glimmering words to enjoy. A magical story with a real lesson at its heart.
