Style Sisters: Friends First

Author: Liz Elwes

Style Sisters is a most appropriate title for this book as it is more about style than substance. The three central characters are mainly distinguished by being good at make-up, clothes or design. The narrative revolves around design, clothes and make-up, with a few forays into boyfriend issues and rescuing the new girl from her fashion mistakes and other follies. The writing is lively and humorous, and convinces as the voice of a happy, normal teenager. While this novel won’t provide anyone with a challenging or memorable read, it will give younger teenage girls a few harmless hours of entertainment, and would probably fly out of our school library.
