Tales of Princes and Princesses

These bog-standard retellings of traditional tales are a bit plodding but manage to get the slipper on Cinderella’s foot. However, it’s the illustrations that make this book worth a look. An interesting range of European illustrators have each illustrated a tale with their own style and flair. Julie Faulques’ delicate tones of colour or Thomas Baas’s cartoon expressiveness make this otherwise lacklustre volume into something worth looking through.
