The Dog in the Diamond Collar

Author: Rebecca LisleIllustrator: Tim Archbold

When a lost dog wanders into their garden, Joe, Laurie and Theo are determined to keep him, even though the diamond collar he is wearing is an unlikely accessory for a stray. The dog is named Clinky Monkey by slightly dotty three-year-old Theo. (No, I’ve no idea why either.) When the boys discover that Clinky is somehow connected to Timothy Potts-Smythe, the kidnapped son of a local multi-billionaire, they decide to investigate further and find him in a ‘most unlikely’ spot. A sinister butler, an angry gorilla, bears, and a dog in a babygro are all part of the fun in this crazy escapade. Stereotypical characters abound in Lisle’s short, undemanding and light-hearted read, punctuated with Archbold’s sketched illustrations, reminiscent of Quentin Blake. Lisle and Archbold team up again following their success with Dogs Don’t Do Dishes.
