Captain  Brainpower and the Mighty Mean Machine

Author: Sam Lloyd

Captain Brainpower is a super hero much given to expressions such as, ‘Blooming brains!’ and ‘Holey Moley!’ He and his chum, Mojo (a mouse) are toys that have been taken to the rubbish pit because no one wants them any more.  When Mojo is snatched up by the Mighty Mean Machine because he just loves mouse for breakfast, Captain Brainpower must save his friend.  Can Captain Brainpower do it?  Of course he can with the help of bits from the rubbish pit and lots of imagination.  Kids will love the bright colours, the comic style, the zig-zag lines, and the zany story line.  I have some reservations as I find some of the style rather confusing.  Children are much more used to this kind of thing and will cope rather better than I.  Not a great book, but there is plenty of fun and action.
