How Many Legs?

Author: Kes GrayIllustrator: Jim Field

Kes Gray and Jim Field are the dream team behind the hysterical Oi Frog! and their new picture book, How Many Legs? is just as brilliant. The question starts off simply – ‘How many legs would there be if in this room there was only me?’ – but then what ‘if a polar bear came for tea?’ A duck comes along so that’s two more, but then guests start arriving in multiples and when they include centipedes and squids it’s easy to lose track of the limbs.

Children will adore the challenge that is set and the chaos that ensues. Some will be determined to figure it out but others will just be happy with the hilarity that it creates – everyone will be satisfied with the clever ending. Jim Field’s bright and bold illustrations are comedy gold on their own, but pared with this tremendous text this is picture book perfection.
