I Still Love You, Dad

Author: Anna De Bode

One of a series of ‘issue’ books for young children, this story introduces us to Laura whose father has left home. She is sad and confused and finds she must help her mum more around the house.  Dad gives her presents when she sees him, but what she really wants is for him to come home.  When mum announces she is bringing a man friend home to tea, Laura is incensed and decides to be naughty.  Maybe then he won’t want to see mum any more.  It doesn’t work, of course, and she even finds she quite likes John.  When she confesses to dad that mum is seeing someone, dad doesn’t seem at all put out, and only says, ‘Is he nice?’  Laura is beginning to learn there can be two men in her life.  The illustrations are a real plus – warm and full of rich colour and humour.  This is a new edition of a book first published in the 1990s.
